Too Much is Not Enough
It's been a long week but thank goodness, tomorrow is a short day. I'm tied up with odds and ends tonight, handling the server maintenance from home, which means I can't go to bed early as I'd like but otherwise it's not too bad.
I got Windows 2000 installed on the other computer, installed Open Office and SpyBot and AdAware. I installed her Norton Systemworks 2005. I even put up the John Wayne Screen Server she was gaga about. I think I got her a different one than she originally had, but this one ought to do just fine. I couldn't salvage the original one, sadly. She bought the other one on an installation CD but the CD itself was faulty and she had to get a replacement. Then some kid came and borrowed her computer and made off with the CD. Go figure.
The grant class was interesting, but I gotta keep my mouth shut. I'm a communicator, both by vocation and by nature. So I tend to dominate classroom situations, even when in the same room with other strong personalities. Translation: I gotta shut up more!
My granddaughter is going to spend a week with her daddy next week, which is a two-edged sword. It means no baby to contend with while I'm trying to work - but it also means I have to contend with her mother in my bedroom until all hours, demanding to use the computer.
I'm going to try and get a long ethernet cord from work tomorrow - we've got several fifty-foot ones - and run a line so that Youngest Daughter can set up a workspace in the living room. At least I hope that plan is workable. Heaven only knows any more what it will take to pacify her.
My next project is Christmas cards. I bought them but need to get the time to sit down and write them out, then buy a book of stamps and mail 'em all out. This year I bought blank cards, with the intent of writing my own verse inside. Trouble is I've had almost zero inspiration and even less time. Here's hoping I can acquire a little ambition in the next couple of days.
It's 9:19 and I think I can finally kick back. Youngest Daughter went to 00's house so I am going to do a couple of things toward a Christmas gift I'm working on for a friend. I was going to run to the store but remembered that the baby's asleep so I can't go anywhere. I'm not going to wake her up just to drag her to the store with me! However, for now I'm going to go watch television and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hopefully something is on that's worth watching.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
