Rebel Without A Shoe
Yes, Radiogurl lives, albeit still not up to her usual snark - yet. It was yet another auspicious start to the day when the jangle of alarm clock in the dead of morning prompted a reach to click on a bedside lamp - and instead resulted in busting a light bulb in said lamp, with the shattered glass landing in the bed and carpet. Good morning Radiogurl!
Fortunately there was no blood spilled either at the time of the incident nor in its subsequent cleanup. I didn't even let loose with the words that sprung to mind at that point, though it took a supreme measure of self-control. I did pick a few tiny splinters from my elbow but nothing struck deeply enough to do any real damage, far as I can tell.
Obviously I survived the close encounter of the lamp kind, and made it to work (on time today.) I am feeling substantially better than yesterday, though not up to par yet. Still fighting the preliminary threat of a cold, but if it's possible I will beat the virus into submission. No rest for the
leery dreary bleary eerie!
I am loading more music into our rotation. Boss keeps feeding me more bubble-gum pop from the 50's, while one of the silent partners and his wife come through bemoaning the over-abundance of bubblegum (and I'm right there with them.) I am loading the new bubblegum but it's getting dumped into the same rotation that's cut back on sugar to only a couple of times an hour or thereabouts, and even then only during the prime-time hours, when everyone is still sucking on their caffeine drip and pretending to be conscious.
This time around I put in things that are MY taste. It certainly fits the esoteric format, which is aimed at the over-forty age set anyway. I put in mostly Dan Fogelberg tunes (my personal favorite) but am looking for a few others of comparable style. My brain just hurts too bad to do anything that requires cognizance today. Fogelberg is, for me, a no-brainer. I had already added several of his pieces - today was merely augmenting those with what I think are actually far better than what I added previously. I still want several more pieces from his Wild Places album (among others.)
Heading out to lunch at the moment - during which I think I am going to pick up some Excedrin. I've made it reasonably well so far today but the body is beginning to rebel and tell me it's still not where it ought to be.
Hey, cut me some slack - it's about as rebellious as I get these days.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
