Easy As Pie
Some days conspire against you.
It's always when you have the most to finish, too, isn't it? Today I was going to shampoo the carpet and finish up with several errands and odds and ends. The errands are done enough for the moment but the carpet's still dirty and likely to stay that way for a couple of more days. This @#$%& fever spiked again and I am pretty much useless. Oh, all right, I'd qualify for that description plenty of days when I don't have a fever. But more useless than usual, today.
I DID accomplish one thing that wasn't on my original list. I cleaned out my closet, eliminating things that either don't fit, or I don't like, or I don't wear, or all of the above. This time around I'm hanging onto the clothes that don't fit, though. Most of them are in good condition and I still like them, so if I get off my lazy butt and lose the weight again I won't have to invest in a whole new wardrobe right off the bat. This time around I'm just going to put them in a box in storage.
Along the way, I realized it really isn't my imagination. I need to get another couple of pairs of pants. I like to have enough so that in a pinch I can go two weeks without doing laundry, without having to resort to a dress or skirt. Those are for dire situations.
I don't say that only because I don't like wearing dresses; in fact, now and then I get in the mood to don a nice skirt and sweater or blouse. But in my job, you never know what the day will bring. I may end up crawling under desks or moving dust-covered supplies, etc. All of which wreaks havoc on pantyhose and the like. In fact, I wore a gorgeous rose-embroidered organza blouse to work about a week and a half ago, only the second time I'd worn it - and it is now a dust rag. Not one of my happier moments.
Fortunately, most of the house is at least passable now, needing little more than a quick dusting and vacuuming to finish up. Good thing, because I think I'm going to have to cave in and camp out on the sofa with a book and take at least 2-3 hours off and pray that's enough to let me get at least a little more done tonight.
The creeping crud, as Smed puts it, just refuses to let go. I hate to do it, but think I'm going to have to break down and go to the doctor if it doesn't let up by tomorrow. Obviously I want to feel better, but I also have to be up to driving cross-country later this week. My alterhatives now are either to back out or to risk giving this to someone else. Neither is acceptable.
From here I guess I'll settle for posting a couple of memes swiped from Art:

Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
