I owe, I owe, so off to work I...
Oh yeah. Not yet.
While I was hoping to get a little further down the job-hunting road this week, packing and moving actually took up the vast majority of our time. I put in one job application, one that's kind of iffy. The pay is okay but there are other aspects which might create unneeded complications. (Not the least of which is the drive, which could get hairy this winter.) But I have more prospects in view, including a state government job and one with a local newspaper.
And no, not Payson-local. We blew that pop-stand for a different one.
This week's also been about taking inventory (literal and figurative) and looking at some other options. We've been looking at a short-term goal that would make long-term goals a lot simpler to manage. And the short-term one is very possibly doable, all things considered. We'll see how it actually works out in the execution.
Meanwhile, however, I have become nosh for mosquitoes. Ever seen one of those rubber balls covered with little bumps? That's what my feet look like at the moment. I'm not going anywhere tonight, but next time I head for the store I'm getting some BiteStick and a can of Off. While I'm sure it would be understood, I suspect that it's not the best impression if you're scratching like a madwoman during a job interview. And of course there's the whole lovely West Nile thing to consider. I'd gotten spoiled to seeing precious few of the blood-pilfering bugs for the past few years. Being back in mosquito country is an interesting experience, to say the least!
Thanks to the move, we're back to square one with regard to MC's divorce, though at least we do know now for certain where everything stands. Oh well - we'll get everything handled somehow.
I won't freak out until I hit the point that I can't pay the bills - which is a deadline approaching VERY fast. I need to get the lead out and get something pinned down, even if it's an $8-an-hour phone job. (No, not THAT kind of phone job, thanks. I think I can find something a bit more legit, lol.)
MC has something in the works, too - doubtful it'll be enough to pay for everything, but if we can BOTH bring something in, so much the better. At least here he HAS job prospects. Where we lived in Payson, it wasn't gonna happen, for a whole lot of reasons. The job situation there (in Payson) is really approaching crisis point. They can't afford to hire police and fire personnel, because those pay ranges won't pay for rent of a hovel.
Anyway... I'm going to be on the road tomorrow for at least part of the day, dropping off resumes and making arrangements for work. Cross your fingers for me - there are a couple of things that are genuinely promising, but will take (at best) a few weeks to come around. And I'm going to need money in less than a few weeks!
I'm trying to speed-read diaries tonight but there are a couple I know I missed. I have to go dig up the password for Boxx's diary, and I had a crash that lost some of the names in red, so I am going to have to try and catch up later on those. I think I missed Smedindy and a couple of others. I'm not snubbing anyone, though, just trying to marathon things when I get the chance for online time, which is currently at a premium.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
