Complication Has Its Reward
Ragged breaths pulled up from the depths of despair;
Songs broken and scattered across a desert waste;
Remnants of pain stitched pell-mell into the tapestry of life:
I languished in poverty deeper than any census can count.
Then your smile poured water across the arid earth that paved my soul.
Your touch sowed seeds in its wake, your arms softening my hardened world,
Restoring what I never knew, rebuilding the home I never had.
Midas forfeited all in the pursuit of gold
But I gained the universe when you pursued me.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
