The First Picture Show
I worked tonight until 8-ish, then stood out in the cold talking to the lady I worked with. She's a wonderful photographer AND just a neat lady, all around. :) I know she disagrees that MC and I are living together without being married, particularly since she's herself a minister. She was nonetheless gracious about it and when I explained some of the particulars to her, she offered some very intelligent and non-judgmental insights.
She didn't do a lot of business tonight but hey - it was still getting her business name out there. She's thrilled with the amount of business she's getting overall. They only opened up their studios a couple of months ago and she said most days she doesn't even get a chance to eat lunch and some days has to make time to go to the restroom.
I didn't make a lot of money but it was nice to actually kick around with another person in the area I can call friend. I appreciate the holy heck out of Wildrosie and Zeb, too, never fear. It's just a real bonus to have a second female friend.
Part of the job - I didn't know in advance - required me to act as a stand-in. When my photog friend was setting up her lighting and such, she had to do so by snapping pictures to check and see how they actually would look. She brought her laptop so could transfer them on-site and gauge for color and lighting. She took several of me, a few of which turned out pretty good considering the subject matter. I am really hoping that I can get MC to sit for our portrait soon, as I'd like to send some out with Christmas cards. (She's the same lady who'll be doing our wedding photography, if all goes well.)
Good thing I went dressed for a formal to-do, makeup and all for a change. She was threatening to use some of the pictures for publicity. I'm okay with that if it's just in the studio, but hope she won't use 'em in the newspaper. Though she's got a puckish enough sense of humor (and knows enough about my reasons for leaving) to do precisely that, since she knows they wouldn't refuse her, as an advertiser.
Well, considering I'm dead on my butt tonight, hurting again, and have to drive to the Phoenix area tomorrow, I'm going to take the easy out and post a couple of quiz results, one borrowed from wenchie, who's posted again after a protracted absence.
81% morality, 45% passion, 72% spirituality, 81% selflessness
|Utterly calm and resolute in the face of danger, utterly devoted to his loved ones and comrades in arms, and utterly willing to do what is necessary to ensure that good overcomes evil. Giles knows the score, he knows that sometimes virtue relies on good men getting a little messy, and he's willing to take that on himself, largely so that others don't have to.
You might share some of that.
You most closely resemble one of the most popular heroes in the Buffy universe.

Second quiz, then I'm outta here:
The Maid of Honor
Deliberate Gentle Love Master (DGLMf)
Appreciated for your kindness and envied for all your experience, you are The Maid of Honor.
Charismatic, affectionate, and terrific in relationships, you are what many guys would call a "perfect catch"--and you probably have many admirers, each wishing to capture your long-term love. You're careful, extra careful, because the last thing you want is to hurt anyone. Especially some poor boy whose only crime was liking you.
We've deduced you're fully capable of a dirty fling, but you do feel that post-coital attachment after hooking up. So, conscientious person that you are, you do your best to reserve physical affection for those you respect... so you can respect yourself.
|Your exact opposite:|
Random Brutal Sex Dreamer
Your biggest negative is the byproduct of your careful nature: indecision. You're just as slow rejecting someone as you are accepting them.
ALWAYS AVOID: The False Messiah, The 5-Night Stand, The Vapor Trail, The Bachelor
CONSIDER: The Gentleman, someone just like you.

Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
