My first offer for the house wasn't accepted - however, I got a counter-offer. One that imho is actually in my favor. There was no quibble on the price, only on the terms.

I should mention, housing prices where I live are so seriously depressed that it's not funny. People on the East Coast and in California must close their eyes now, because my next words will send you into a seizure. I offered full asking price, because this was new on the market and I figured I was going to snap it up while I could. Full asking price is $20,000. The owner is willing to carry, provided I do a very short-term - five years - which I'll do in a heartbeat. I will have payments under $400 a month AND will have a five-year mortgage.

Yes, all the walls ARE intact and the roof is NOT caving in, there's not a neighbor engaged in the World's Oldest Profession (at least I don't think so!) and I am not on drugs.

This entry is going to be short because I don't feel well. I'm planning on curling up in bed and sleeping for a month or thereabouts. But if you read in between the snores I'll be cheering!

Before - After

In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
