Whole Lot of Sleeping Going On

Whatta way to get a vacation. After a spirited ungodly-hour IM yesterday with Dangerspouse, I finally hit the sack around 5AM. Not long after getting home from the ER.

Funny thing about ear infections. Sometimes they run their course. Other times the course reaches up and bitch-slaps you. I got the latter approach, naturally.

So I'm sitting home for a couple of days because not only do I have one hellacious ear infection, but now my lymph nodes are infected, too. I have a pretty hefty-sized knot behind my ear at the moment, and a bottle of solid-gold industrial-strength antibiotics to swallow.

I say solid gold based on price per pill. Yeouch! And I thought the infection hurt!

00 got hired to replace Traffic Girl, who got a nice cushy and higher-paying job as an insurance agent; and I was worried yesterday about how 00 would get back and forth to work. Boss volunteered to pick her up yesterday morning, an offer I gladly accepted. And according to 00, boss and Traffic girl were literally fighting over who'd bring her home last. As in, they both wanted to bring her home.

00, meanwhile, was just praying I'd pick her up (which I did).

00's boyfriend, hereinafter known as Pipeboy, was a sweetie. I had to do a whole lot of running around today for a sick lady and he ended up chauffeuring me around. As it turned out, getting the prescription filled was quite the ordeal, and somehow we ended up making about seven stops just to do that and pay a small but important bill.

Along the way, Pipeboy had a serious talk with me and vice-versa. I told him my views and my laws on any substances smoked in or around my home and he told me he understood the principles of being castrated with a pair of pruning shears.

Can't imagine why he was extra nice to me after that tête-a-tête.

Still not feeling great - supposedly this antibiotic will kill almost anything, but I can't really tell a difference yet, and I'm still alive. Except for the fact that the antibiotic itself leaves me loopy as hell. Even more so than usual. Definitely too much so to be any use at work, which is why I'm not there and not going to attempt it today.

At least (thank God) I'm not in horrible, miserable pain. I can't say no pain, but either I've got a pretty high threshold or this is just a relatively tame infection in terms of agony.

What the heck - might as well enjoy the time off while I have it. All things considered, I'm going to try and catch up on some reading and some writing - I can do the latter lying down and transcribe to computer later - and a whole lot of sleep, I hope.

Before - After

In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
