Stuff and Such

I'm not fired but needless to say, it ain't gonna be a pretty week around here... I'll survive.

Trying to figure out how much to put in a public page about the accident. I'm fine, just grumbling, "Oh great... who'd I tick off to manage THIS?" It is the first accident I've had in 23 years, for heaven's sake, and the first ticket for a moving violation in as long. I have driven probably 100K miles in the past year. I'm not an unsafe driver, but truth be told, I was so tired that my reflexes weren't up to par. Working as many hours as I did last week, combined with trouble sleeping, will do that to ya.

Oh, and the other party in the wreck?

The mayor. Not kidding.

Boss was reasonably cool about it overall, but the vehicle is going to take a while to get fixed. As a result, though, I might not have to cough up the deductible I offered to pay, which means I'll start scouring the paper and the roadsides for cheap transportation. I refuse to drive someone else's vehicle again, period. I just won't do it. For that matter, I'm not of a mind to drive ANYTHING right now. Sheesh.

I've got to sign off for now and get to a meeting. I'm NOT driving there, thank goodness!

Before - After

In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
