Wow - I'm going to actually get a third entry tonight. The first was a comment on the drought situation here, and the second was a reading list, courtesy of Chaosdaily.
Overall today wasn't too shabby. Had lunch with a friend, we took a while to gossip, and I was almost to the point of feeling human again. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
And Boss was in a fairly good mood. For the middle of the week, when things are normally dead, we broke two significant stories. Not the sort of thing that everyone gets because they're so horrific, like the woman whose baby died while she was getting high, or a political bombshell, nothing that in-your-face. But still things that carry potentially significant impact for this community and our neighbors.
One was a good news story, albeit with some bittersweet corners on it. The other was frightening for its potential to become so much more.
I reiterate: I am extremely glad that youngest daughter will be moving this weekend. She has a fondness for bringing everything she owns and literally dumping it into the middle of the floor. I'm willing to excuse her this time because I know she has nowhere else to put things, but it happens even if she has a dresser and closet and all sorts of organizers at her disposal. I'll also be extraordinarily happy when this cold passes into oblivion. I've gotten past the fever I think, and in general I'm feeling better. I won't go into the specific complaints, avoiding the too-much-information syndrome, but will be glad when it's done and over with.
My phone is missing again. As is becoming habitual. There are three phones in the house, all cordless, and which one does everyone grab? The one off of my desk. I'd like to scream now, thank you very much.
If I had ambition I'd try to write something witty and catchy before signing off, but frankly I'm tired and not feeing particularly catchy. For now I think I'll simply say bon soir.
Oh, and a couple of quizzes - stolen from Fuzzmom and Chaosdaily, respectively:
Random Obituary, from The Horror Rules Gazette
We regret to announce the unpleasant demise of radiogurl, who on the 5th of August of this year was viciously bored to death by a ferocious werewolf. This unfortunate incident occurred in an adult bookstore at the foot of the Statue of Liberty. The deceased was reported to have shouted "Egads!" just before expiring. radiogurl is survived by Gladys Happyfoot, a trained chimpanzee. Funeral services will be held the 5th of next month.
And I couldn't resist learning which Monty Python Character I am:
I'm French! Why do think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king-a?!
What Monty Python Character are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
This one's fun too - but it's mine, don't remember where I got it:
Heart of Gold
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
