Hi Yo Silver
Sunday night again - It seems like the weekends keep getting shorter!
I may get some time off this week - by default. My voice is virtually gone tonight, and since it's normally worse in the mornings and better at night, I'm gonna be screwed for anything that requires speaking tomorrow. I'll be working from home though - if I have enough voice to speak, I can record and produce the newscast from home anyway, and that way I don't 'spread the wealth' of this nasty stuff that's zapped me. On top of everything else, it's pouring right now, and it's supposed to get even worse tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday.
This weekend has been kind of a blur. I did manage to get my laundry done this morning, even though I hated to go out feeling like I did. I'd let it go for long enough that I couldn't put it off again. I went back to bed for a little while this afternoon, then got up and threw together what my mom used to call "slumgullion." It essentially meant throwing whatever you have into a pot, adding water, and letting it simmer until it resembles food. In this case, it was slightly more civilized - it's a vegetable-beef stew, and no leftovers involved in its creation. I put it in the crock pot so I could ignore it until it was done. (Yes, Tom - I know, that's cooking blasphemy, but the way I felt today it was that or nothing.)
Backtracking a couple of days... Remember this picture? Look at the little silver thingy leaned up against the headboard at the lower left corner. Tell me what you think it is.
'Cause I sure as heck don't know.
When I snapped that picture, I tried to frame it so it looked like I cleaned house. (Yeah yeah, I know, false advertsing, blah blah blah.) Then when I pulled the pictures from my camera and saw that darned thing, I walked over to see what I missed.
Trouble is, I didn't miss anything. There was nothing there. There was nothing that had fallen on the floor or behind the bed Besides which, it appeared in two shots, taken a couple of minutes apart. And it was higher in the second shot - so it was going up, not down.
It's too tiny for aliens, especially if they've got Elvis with 'em. That sucker wouldn't even hold his white spandex and sequins. And unless ghosts have taken up wearing giant safety pins, I don't think that's it. Here's an enlargement - whatever it was, it cast a shadow; and the angle of the shadow suggests it was leaning against the wall, with the top touching. I am stumped - if anyone can clue me in, I'd love to hear what you think it is, because I have no clue.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
