No, I am not practicing to join poolagirl as a pirate; I'm just frustrated because I had this entry more or less written out and accidentally closed the window. I should have entered in Notepad but when it comes to that, I'd probably still have closed the Notepad window and been right back where I started. You just can't win sometimes.
I'm in a weird mood tonight. I'm exhausted, slap-happy, and unimaginably happy that it's Friday night. Somebody apparently decided I didn't have enough to do, and they crammed about three weeks into the past week for me.
Chances are this will be a short entry tonight. I've fallen into the habit of stretching out on the couch and watching television at night. After all of the computer-related swearing and screaming I've done over the past couple of weeks or so, by the time I got home I really didn't want to spend another minute in front of the computer screen unless I had to for work. But I did finally get the backup computer working - albeit by completely rebuilding it. And Youngest Son changed some settings on my personal computer and got it operating again, though we both agree I'm due to replace the hard drive. It's horribly noisy, enough so that I know it's about to tank. But the problem wasn't the video card, apparently. He's as stumped as I am as to what caused it to black out.
00 had been using an old 19" TV I bought for $5 from a county auction. It works great, though it's not especially pretty. About two weeks ago, Youngest Son gave her his old TV, a much newer 27" model, so she brought mine back. As a result, I'm setting up a TV in my bedroom. Not quite sure yet where I'll put it, but I'm going to try and make room for it, I think. I need to put another computer back together this weekend, and have to take it back to the owner and tell her that unfortunately we're going to have to set her up with a new motherboard and processor. I was afraid of that to begin with because she's got a proprietary machine. There's a short in the switch that turns it off and on. Let me reword that - it turns itself off and on. Annoying little thing.
I'm out of here for tonight. It cleared of a lot today, no rain. I hope that trend holds. I really need to get my laundry done tomorrow if at all possible.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
