So much for a meaningful entry tonight! I did all of my running around today and tonight: groceries, some odds-and-ends shopping, paid a couple of bills... It's now past 9pm and I just got home and put the groceries away.
Unfortunately the checker at the grocery store was new. And S-L-O-W. I mean, this woman would lose a race to a dead snail, I swear. Unfortunately I guess the store decided that Thursday night would be "train cashiers" night, because none of the lines were moving. I stood in line over an hour (not counting the time it took her to ring ME up) and there was only one customer ahead of me!
Normally I wouldn't mind too much but sheesh... I had other things to do. Oh well.
Tomorrow after work I'm going to pick up my friend LR, and will probably make it back here, round-trip, by or before 6. I won't putz around AFTER work like I did today and we won't yack and goof around there (like I did with my daughter night before last.)
I hit one store today and picked up a couple of paperback books, a shirt, and a 2-piece dress - for less than $5. I'm talking less than $5 for ALL of that. I hit another store and bought a pair of pants - the original tag said $50 - I got them for 99 cents.
I'm Ms. Bargain Shopper all the way, but I think today had to be some kind of record. I haven't EVER bought the kind of stuff I got today, even used, for the prices I found. I know for a fact I've never hit that kind of numbers buying new before!!!
Of course the grocery store made up the difference. Biiig bill of groceries. Of course, I bought enough food for a month or so. With LR coming I filled up on fresh veggies - we both love a veggie tray so that was a no-brainer. I bought a couple of things that I know she likes even though they're definitely not on my favorites list -- but I also bought spaghetti and shredded parmesan, which I love and haven't had in months. And bought the stuff to make biscuits and gravy Saturday morning. I honestly can't remember the last time I had biscuits and gravy - I'm thinking it's on the order of a year and a half.
For anyone who isn't Southern, if you don't 'get' biscuits and gravy, I won't try to explain. Suffice to say that one of my kids' friends helped me move in 120-degree heat just so I'd make him biscuits and gravy.
Needless to say, the diet goes on hiatus for the weekend. If LR ends up moving here, obviously, that won't work, but for the moment this is a fun weekend. We'll do some kicking around town and probably drive up to the Rim, otherwise we'll much and sit around and gab, probably watch some TV. And I already have her a job application for one job here in town. Hopefully she can get on at one of the medical facilities, at a doctor's office or the hospital, etc. There are a couple of other decent places in town to work (obviously I'm at one!) and we'll just have to make time to do the rounds.
Darn. It's 9:30 and I'm beat. I slept through my alarm this morning. Fortunately I woke up at 5:50 anyway so I was still at work by shortly after 6. Good thing I live close to the studios and didn't have to be on the air until 7!
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
