Man... Long weekend.
Picked up LR Friday afternoon. The poor woman was so stressed out that she was bouncing off of the walls. I already had a pretty good idea she was on the verge of a complete collapse and I was right.
I don't know if you know or not, but when you hit that point, then finally DO get a reprieve, however brief, you more or less shut down.
That's precisely what happened.
I was expecting it and fully prepared, but LR was mortified. She had the fallacious idea that she was somehow being a bad guest. I kept pointing out that the whole idea was to pull her out of the dungeon where she's currently living so she could decompress and get some rest. I think she finally got it, but by then it was nearly time to take her home again and her stress levels were rising again.
I don't know if she'll move up here or not. She says she wants to, but she wasn't terribly interested in some of the local job openings. She's worked in call centers for years and I guess she isn't interested in doing much of anything else, despite earlier assertions that she'd take whatever she can get. Unfortunately there aren't any call centers here in town.
While I'm glad I went and got LR for the weekend, it meant I had to use tonight to play catch-up on everything I let go to go get her and drive her home. I got a couple of loads of laundry done and started working on the studio software - only to discover that we're missing an integral element in the software. I'd asked my boss if he purchased both halves and he assured me that he did.
So I now have two weeks or less to get this up and working and only have half of the software.
It was necessarily kind of a boring weekend. LR didn't feel well so wasn't up to going anywhere except a drive up to the Rim (which was this morning) and other than that and dinner out Friday night, we didn't do much. We talked some but even that was curtailed because she was out for the count a lot of time.
Which, in reality, is my next destination. While LR caught up on her rest this weekend I did NOT. So I'm calling it an early night and will hopefully catch up on diaries tomorrow...
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
