Pipe Dreams Up In Smoke
Looooooong day. Good thing I got everything else done during the week.
00 phoned this morning at 6am. She was still crying and (I would later discover) hadn't eaten or slept in more than 48 hours. Not a healthy combination. She just needed Mom so I drove down there and spent most of the day with her, took her with me to my sister's house, and played dodge-the-dogs at my sis's house.
Did I mention that my sister keeps an entire menagerie at her home? At the moment she only has four dogs and three cats(!), but there's been a time when she had two dogs, five cats, and three ferrets. That was a heck of a lot of living things in a small space - and where they lived at the time, that didn't count the thousands of cockroaches infesting the building. (Baby Sister lived in a townhouse at the time and the whole complex was thick with them.)
However, 00 also had her pit bull-boxer mix with her today so my sister's Chinese chins and pomeranians were fit to be tied. And from the cats' constant hissing, it sounded like a perpetually-deflating balloon, the whole time we were there.
The upside to that is that 00 was laughing before we left. (Mission accomplished.) She was still upset and still doesn't know exactly what she'll do but is no longer at the panic point about it. And as she rightly pointed out, she's not taking the blame this time, no matter how much Pipeboy tries to blame her for the fact that he's a cheating pig. When his own mother refuses to speak to him or help him in any way, shape or form, you know he's in serious trouble.
Add to that the fact that he's started doing drugs on the premises at work and he's probably going to be facing some legal issues, too. Or he would if it weren't in the vicinity of Globe. A few years back in the satellite community of Miami AZ, the police chief was driving drunk and drove his jeep into a home. Prior to that, the town magistrate tried to commit suicide after he was busted for sending handcuff keys and marijuana to his male lover in a Colorado prison.
In short, where Pipeboy might be in deep doodoo elsewhere, Globe is still a few cockroaches short of a Mexican restaurant. (I know, low blow.) So heaven knows what the outcome will ultimately be.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
