Y'all know I love Rosie to death, don't you?

Death will be the operative word if I get another meal laced with canned corn.

I really DO appreciate not having to cook dinner when I get home from work, don't get me wrong. And frankly I adore veggies, including corn. But aside from the fact that I'm a corn snob who prefers the frozen stuff, which tastes fresher - and the fact that I kid you not - this woman makes EVERYTHING with corn in it.

First time I get corn poured over my ice cream, I swear I'm going to come unglued. And no, I'm not kidding.

I will give her credit though. We're getting more variety in the vegetable section these days, something that makes me mighty happy. As long as I can eat chocolate ice cream (minus corn, thank you) now and then, I think I would make it just fine as a vegetarian.

Other than the corn clash, we're good. Tired, but good. There's been some minor grumbling at both ends - very minor as a whole - and I'm trying to be the buffer zone to keep it from expanding into anything worse. As long as we're at this level it's livable, and I really can't see it getting downright nasty. Our personalities just aren't that way.

Rosie's headed for the east coast at ungodly o'clock tomorrow morning. I get to play chaffeur so we get her legally to the airport in Tucson before daybreak. (Her truck license expired and I insisted on driving her. Getting busted with expired tags in Arizona is so expensive you don't even want to THINK about it.) That'll leave me here alone in the house with three good-looking guys for the next few days.

Come to think of it, that's not a bad thing...

But I digress.

Besides which, other than MC, I can look but I can't touch.

I haven't heard any more today about my daughter, but I gathered no news was good news. They were planning, barring a setback, to set her free from the hospital today. I just hope they did so with a round of antibiotics that will oust the infection without damaging the baby, if there is such a thing.

And another thing...

The mosquito infestation is back in droves. Literally so. My feet are so swollen from mosquito bites that I'm amazed I can still wear my shoes. West Nile virus has to be hanging around - and I suspect Rosie will tell y'all about what SHE encounteed on the road tonight. After which I'll fill you in on a related newspaper article I read just about the time I moved here.

I've got to wrap this up and post it so I can get to bed. I stayed up late last night and got up mighty early this morning because I knew I was going to have to be up when it's barely tomorrow. So for tonight - adieu!

Before - After

In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
