This Is What Happens When Everything Happens At Once
Argh. Today has been nonstop the whole day.
I posted a private entry - finally got it linked from my table of contents at right, only to discover that yes, there is an "older" page in my private folder. Again, argh... (Apparently I shoulda been a pirate too, Poolie.)
For whatever reason, I'm dead on my butt tonight. Dunno why, since I slept in this morning. Probably just the two previous late nights catching up with me.
Art said he's had no luck with Associated Content. I just got my second-highest offer to date this morning. Yes, they do require you to use proper grammar, punctuation and capitalization - after all, they're paying you as an independent contractor and professional writer. For me, that's a pretty simple process. I'm downright anal about grammar and spelling and punctuation.
That doesn't mean I don't have to check and correct. I generally revise between five and six times before final submission.
I'm not getting rich, obviously, and it won't resolve the bigger current money dilemma, but it helps. If nothing else, it's helping pay for a few extra groceries, without which we'd be in a heap 'o hungry. We're close enough to that anyway.
I also need to apply for another job I heard about yesterday, just haven't had the time. It's tough to look for another job when you're working full time and trying to write and juggle family and web customers and yada yada yada. When it comes down to it, I'm holding two jobs. So figure holding two jobs and searching for a third.
Yeah, like that.
Work's been a dead run since the moment I arrived. It doesn't help that Corporate's computer link-up isn't working, so I have had to enter everything manually, just for fun. (Therefore increasing my workload for the night at least five-fold.) Better yet, after entering everything manually to make sure it's done, once the system does come back up, we'll have to manually delete all the duplicates.
Doesn't that sound like fun?
Anyway, got a lead on another writing job again tonight, hopefully one that pays slightly better than AC. In theory it should, as it's a magazine. I believe they're a fairly small and possibly new publication, so we shall see. I talked to the PIC (Person In Charge) tonight and she expressed interest, gave me her card and asked me to contact her off the clock (off my clock, I mean.) I got a copy of their latest edition and will thumb through through it. Then I'll probably phone, send her a resume and point her to my AC page as a substitute for a printed portfolio.
There are bazillions of opportunities all over the place. I just need the stamina to sift through and find the right one. Cross your fingers and send me good vibes!
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
