The Wild Wild West Returns to Hangin' Days

Quick entry for now - in reply to the note from Wench77 - I got my critical interview and the smoking gun because I'm the only one who didn't back down from it. I am not naive enough to think there was any truce called, but I know the real deal when I see it. What I got was legit, including a string of additional contact numbers and names.

Incidentally, I went back and forth via email with one of the three legislators involved in the scandal. I repeated the same question four times. Each time, his response was to launch a junior-high-school level insult at me, and to completely ignore the question. One time he called me a liar, once a lazy reporter. I laughed.

I have to tell you, even the people who don't like me were laughing at the latter. I'm a lot of things, but lazy isn't one of them. I dig out the stuff no one else can find, and I work more hours than any human being should.

Of course, that little comment was tantamount to saying sic 'em to a dog. No one ever accused politicians of being smart. I just smiled and took notes at the self-hanging.

Before - After

In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
