The sofa was delivered today, while I was at the laundromat, having borrowed Youngest Daughter's boyfriend's car to do that. It was that, or go to work naked all week. Aside from the propriety issues, it's a mite too chilly in the mornings to go to work undressed.
Much to my surprise, I didn't only get a sofa. The store delivered the sofa and loveseat of the set I picked out. I was only looking for the sofa but apparently someone else had a different idea. And talk about timing... Remember the aforementioned ratty old recliner (from the previous entry,) which before today was the only remotely comfortable place you could sit in my living room? It fell apart TODAY, right after the new stuff was delivered. In fact, it disintegrated as it was being moved to make room for the new stuff. I've moved that old chair more times than I can count, yet it chose today to die. I never have been much one to believe in coincidence, and I'm not about to start now.
I will borrow Pipeboy's truck next week to haul the dead recliner to the dump. Youngest daughter insists that she wants the fugly office-reject-chair or it would go to the dump, too. I hope she finds somewhere to put it, otherwise it WILL go to the dump. I lived with junk for twenty-five years and hated it, and that thing is the worst!
Now that the baby's gone, I did my "dress rehearsal" call with the Associated Press, and laundry is done, I'm going to take a nap. Hopefully later tonight I'll either add a second entry or augment this one. It will probably depend on whether or not I can get rid of the migraine.
Before - After
In the grander scheme of things, no soul can truly be replaced. Each one of us has a place in the universal tapestry. We each contribute our own color and texture. When one thread is snipped too soon, it distorts all the threads around it. Other lives can unravel and tear. If the wrong thread is ripped away, the whole fabric of life becomes dangerously fragile.
